8 must eat restaurants to check out in Salt Lake and Utah Valley
Living in Utah has a lot of advantages. There are beautiful mountains surrounding us in each direction, world-class skiing all along the Wasatch Front, numerous outdoor activities to take advantage of, and a business atmosphere that is addicting.
One aspect of Utah that many people may not know about, is all the amazing places to eat all over the state. Whether you’re looking for high end restaurants, or small local dives, Utah has a diverse selection for you to choose from.

Here is a list of restaurants that should definitely be on your list.

Next time you’re in the Salt Lake Valley, swing by one of these awesome eateries. You won’t be sorry you did.
1. Red Iguana
Located on W. North Temple in Salt Lake, this famous Mexican restaurant has become one of Utah’s most decorated restaurants over the years. With the slogan “Killer Mexican Food,” it certainly lives up to its name. Since it’s opening in 1985, Red Iguana has been awarded numerous #1’s and “best of” awards over the years and was also featured on the popular Food Network show, ‘Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives’. If you’re a fan of Mexican food, I suggest you go give it a try.
2. Moochie’s
With locations in Salt Lake, Midvale, and Lehi, this sandwich joint is known for its mouthwatering meatball sandwiches and philly cheesesteaks. Voted best of Utah for their cheesesteak, Moochies was also featured on Food Networks ‘Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives’. The problem you’ll have when going there is picking which sandwich you are going to eat because they are all really good. You’ll have to go back multiple times to make sure you try them all.
3. Eggs in the City

If it’s breakfast you’re looking for, then go check out Eggs in the City located off 1300 S in Salt Lake. This little eatery, located in a former gas station, serves up all your favorite breakfast and brunch favorites. Whether you’re looking at Yelp, Facebook, or Urbanspoon, people are giving this breakfast restaurant raving views.
4. Squatters
If you are looking to get some good All-American classics then check out Squatters on West Broadway in Salt Lake. Since 1989, Squatters has been serving their handcrafted beers and award winning menu to the people of Salt lake for over 25 years . Along with their beer, they also make their own root beer for those who aren’t looking for the extra kick. A very cool aspect of Squatters is their philosophy of “Planet Planet Profit”. They partner with numerous organizations in support of creating a healthy community in Salt Lake.

If you are looking to get out of Salt Lake for your next dining experience, travel down to the other side of the point of the mountain and you will find a plethora of great places to eat. Here are some places to check out next time you’re in Utah Valley.
5. Bam Bams BBQ
If you want some of the best BBQ around, then you need to experience a meal at Bam Bams. Located on South State Street in Orem, they pride themselves on bringing authentic Central Texas BBQ to Utah Valley. The restaurant may be newer to the area, but the owner has been winning awards for his mouth-watering BBQ for years. Along with their great BBQ, they have homemade sides that will make you feel like your Momma made it. You will definitely come back for more.

This little Cabana is located right in the heart of Provo on the corner of Freedom Blvd and 100 South. It’s the type of place that if you didn’t know where it was, you probably wouldn’t know it existed. But believe me, you really need to know that it exists. Some fan favorites include the carne asada tacos, any of their specialty burritos, or their ginormous nachos.
7. Art City Trolley
If it’s a diner style feel you’re looking for, then definitely check out Art City Trolley. Located on State Street in Springville, this small diner started out in a restored trolley car (hence the name) and has expanded into the popular restaurant it is today. The great food, awesome service, and laid back atmosphere will keep you coming back.

Good sushi can be hard to come by. You usually have to either drive really far or break the bank for a decent role. Located on N. State Street in Orem, Asahi helps alleviate those two problems, well at least for those around Utah Valley. But if you’re not nearby, it’s definitely worth the drive. Their modern, darker ambiance is very inviting and is a great atmosphere for a night out with a significant other or friends. Some fan favorites include the sunset roll, spider roll, and Vegas roll. For those who aren’t particularly fond of sushi, they also have some killer chicken teriyaki.
These are just a handful of the great restaurants that can be found within the Salt Lake and Utah Valleys. If there are some on this list you haven’t been to, I suggest the next time you’re out with friends, or taking that special someone out on a date, you go to one of the places on this list.
