73 fun things to do with kids in Salt Lake
This year there’s no excuse to be bored in Utah. From arts at Abravanel Hall to a day at the zoo, there are always fun things to do with kids in Salt Lake.

Here’s a list of 73 fun things to do with your kids:
1. Help your kids develop an appreciation for the arts at Abravanel Hall, including the Utah Symphony Orchestra.
2. The Amazing Scavenger Hunt Adventure lets you explore the rich history of Salt Lake City.
3. On the ground floor of The City Library in SLC is Art at the Main, which gives local artists a venue to show off their work.
4. There are plenty of kid-friendly performances at Ballet West coming up this season, including The Nutcracker, Beauty and the Beast and more.
5. The hike to Lower Bell Canyon Reservoir via Granite Trail has a moderate incline, but the view is worth it.
6. Go for a swim at Blackridge Reservoir in Herriman.
7. In Draper east of I-15, you’ll find Boondocks Family Fun Center, which has mini golf, bumper cars and an indoor arcade.
8. A landmark in Salt Lake City, Capitol Theatre has a variety of events each season, including the Children’s Dance Theatre.
9. Located in West Valley City, Centennial Park is a huge city park with playgrounds, lots of green space and is a great place to have a picnic.
10. The Church History Library has lots of artifacts from the early days of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Brigham Young’s wood lathe from his days as a carpenter.

11. There’s a pathway that winds through Memory Grove Park into City Creek Canyon, which is perfect for walking and cycling.
12. The upscale, open-air mall City Creek Center has a fountain in the center court, underground parking and plenty of dining and refreshment options.
13. Want your family to experience Salt Lake City as a tourist would? City Sights Tours can take you on a tour of SLC, the Great Salt Lake, Copper Mountain and more. You can even ride in a vintage trolley!
14. Most kids are fascinated with Space, and the Clark Planetarium has an IMAX, 10,000 square feet of exhibits and the Hanson Dome Theatre.

16. There’s over 60,000 square feet of interactive exhibits at Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum in downtown Salt Lake City.
17. There’s a couple of ways to spell it– Donut Falls or Doughnut Falls in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Either way, this popular hike has a waterfall at the end, and the trail is relatively easy for older kids to navigate.
18. The Downtown Farmers Markets runs basically all year, including the Winter Market at Rio Grande, and the Summer Market at Pioneer Park.
19. The Family History Library in Salt Lake City is free to the public, and has guided tours to help you and your kids discover more about the family tree.
20. A fun afternoon awaits at Fort Douglas Military Museum on the University of Utah campus. Admission is free.

27. Offering “music, movement and creative experiences”, Imagination Place is a great place to help your child develop a joy for creative expression.

29. Originally known as Hotel Utah, the Joseph Smith Memorial Building is home to Legacy Theatre, The Roof and Garden Restaurants and Nauvoo Cafe.

72. At Utah’s Hogle Zoo there’s an Animal Encounters program that lets your kids get up close and personal with the animals.
73. There’s a summer camp at Wheeler Historic Farm, and the facilities are open year round for free.
