9 fun things to do at The Leonardo this year

There’s so much to do this Spring and Summer in Utah, and one of the places you should make plans to visit is The Leonardo in Salt Lake City. With fun events and exhibits over the next few months, this is the perfect excuse to get out of the house and into some adventures that your whole family will enjoy.

 

1. Libations at The Leo: Wine and Food Pairing

Wait– did we say “wine”? Yes, we sure did. The Leonard is “Utah’s Center for Exploration”, and that doesn’t mean they only specialize in sciencey things. Join the Wine Academy of Utah’s James Santangelo and Salt Executive Chef Zanetta Jones for on the first Thursday of each month for samples of food and wine.

2. Camp Cranium Summer Camps

Camp Cranium gives kids permission to explore! Designed for ages 5-18, The Leonardo’s camp programs run through the summer, and members can receive 10-percent off.

3. Mind Riot 2015

Mind Riot is a three-day social entrepreneurship collaborative for high school students, which challenges them to come together to solve challenges in business, technology and creativity. They can show off their talents, hang out with other teens and even win some cash.

4. Science Lab Exhibit

The Leonardo wants you to explore the world without the aid of a smartphone. When was the last time you really took a look around? The Science Lab is packed with fun experiments, including electricity, biology, chemistry and more.

5. Water Exhibit

This is a new exhibit at The Leonardo that helps you understand water’s unique properties, and what water’s role is in culture, politics and life.

6. Dynamic Performance of Nature Exhibit

Check out this art piece that is made up of recycled plastic “fins” with solar powered LEDs and millions of colors.

7. Hylozoic Veil Exhibit

This is a three-story art installation that combines chemistry, engineering, sculpture and physics. See it on the second floor observation area, from the third floor above, or from the lobby.

8. Pixel Playland Exhibit

This is an awesome exhibit for kids, because it gives them a chance to mix light into patterns and use their imaginations.

Sugar makes everything better, right? This exhibit gives a better idea about what sugar really is, where it comes from, and how it impacts people’s lives.
