Salt Lake City Airport Shuttle Information

What to expect when taking a Salt Lake City Airport shuttle

Even if you’re lucky enough to live within a few minutes of the airport, getting a ride to or from the place can be rough. We all know the dreaded question from a friend: “Hey, can I get a ride home from the airport…at 3 am on a Thursday?”

Since parking your car is expensive, buses are complicated, and even TRAX isn’t the most flexible option, it may seem like you have no other choice but to ask a friend to do you a favor. Have no fear, though. If you can’t swing a ride — or just don’t want to bother asking someone — airport shuttles are a great alternative.

Airport shuttle basics

Most shuttles are a large van that picks you up at your home, hotel or office and drops you off at the airport terminal, or vice versa. They usually offer a shared ride service, meaning you’ll be riding the shuttle bus with a group of other passengers on your same route. (This lowers the cost for you!) But if you do want to book a whole shuttle for a group of people, like coworkers, family or friends, you can do that too.

Shuttle buses allow you to bring your luggage with you, usually at no extra cost. Still, if you have an unusually large load, be sure to check with the shuttle company before booking to figure out the total cost.

How it works

Riding the shuttle is convenient and fairly straightforward, once you’re familiar with the process. Here’s what you need to know about taking a Salt Lake City airport shuttle:

  • For transportation to the airport, you must make a reservation. Make it at least 24 hours in advance for better chances at getting a spot
  • For transportation from the airport, you can technically approach a shuttle desk to reserve a seat, but it’s best to reserve in advance to make sure there’s room for you
  • To reserve a spot, be prepared to give your airline, flight number and address or city you’re coming from
  • You can book reservations online with a credit card, or by calling and reserving over the phone
  • Even if your flight is delayed, the shuttle will still be there when you arrive – they monitor your flight!
