SALT LAKE CITY – UDOT is out changing speed limit signs from 65 to 70 MPH along the Interstate freeways in the northern Utah Monday, after the decision was made by UDOT officials to increase the speed limits, and presented to the Utah Transportation Commission in November this year.

The Utah Legislature passed HB80, which allows UDOT to raise speed limits on interstate freeways to 80 mph
The bill also permits UDOT to conduct studies on other interstate freeways around the state, and the Salt Lake Tribune reports limits could possibly be bumped up to 80 mph.
Freeways changing to 70 mph:
- I-15, between Spanish Fork and North Ogden
- I-80, except between Redwood Rd. and I-15, and between 1300 E. and Parleys Canyon
- I-215, except between Parleys Canyon and 3300 S.

Col. Danny Fuhr with the Utah Highway Patrol tells the Tribune troopers will be strictly enforcing the new speed limits.
