From amazing outdoor access to a booming entrepreneurial atmosphere, this is the right place.
Salt Lake City, Provo and Ogden are hot spots for businesses, young families, professionals and the like. But we want to shed some light on the lesser-known side of Utah (outside of Utah, at least).
Here’s a list of some of Utah’s amazing towns (population under 20,000), chosen for their beauty, charm, quality lifestyle and more.
1. Farmington

With the new quaint and historic Main Street, location at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains, family-friendly atmosphere and new Station Park retail development, Farmington is such a desirable place to live, Money Magazine even ranked them 14th on their 50 Best Places to Live list last year.
2. Lindon
Don LaVange
Lindon also snagged a spot on last year’s Money Magazine Best Places to Live list, ranking in at No. 29. The city ranked No. 1 on the list for ease of living, and unemployment and crime rates are incredibly low.
3. Heber City

With Midway and Deer Creek Reservoir right in its backyard, Heber City has an undeniable charm. Utahans and out-of-state folks alike flock to The Heber Valley as a getaway throughout all seasons of the year, so living there full-time sounds like a pretty darn good idea.
4. Midway

Speaking of Midway, we think it deserves its own spot on the list. This truly small town is the home of Utah highlights like Swiss Days, Homestead Resort, Soldier Hollow ski resort and tasty food spots like Dairy Keen and Tarahumara.
5. Brigham City
J. Stephen Conn
Brigham City has a lot more than Peach Days going for it! (Even though Peach Days are worth the trip alone.)
6. Mapleton
Kyle Taylor
Touted as one of the safest cities in Utah, Mapleton neighbors the slightly larger city of Springville and is loved for its tight-knit community, beautiful foothills and spacious parks.
7. Hurricane
A. Duarte
The only city on the list in the St. George area, Hurricane is best known for its close proximity to the world-renowned Zion National Park. It’s also less than 100 miles from the north rim of the Grand Canyon and is a popular spot for paragliders, hikers and outdoorsmen of all kinds.
8. Centerville
Don LaVange
The population has been on the rise in this Davis County town thanks to its nearness to Salt Lake City, access to major shopping and restaurants and safe, family-centered atmosphere.
9. Highland

Just outside of the Provo/Orem area, Highland is a place where crime is low, income is high, schools are top notch and even a few celebrities dwell, including retired NBA star Thurl Bailey.
10. Woods Cross

Just neighboring the larger city of Bountiful is the quaint Woods Cross. This small town rounds out the list and is the final spot that is part of the clear star of this piece, Davis County. Woods Cross has the lowest commute time and lowest cost of living of any top city in Davis County, and also has a low unemployment rate, making it one of Movoto.com’s best places to live in Utah.
