SLC to get a classic hip-hop station?

SALT LAKE CITY – A lot is happening on the local radio dial.

Rock 106.5 recently moved up to 106.7 FM, and Talk Radio 105.7 is getting ready to make the move to 105.9 FM in October.

Those changes are part of a larger relocation of frequencies in four states, under FCC Docket 05-243 that also includes Mix 107.9.

But the shuffle that’s happening at Cumulus was basically out of the blue, and has more to do with formats than frequencies.

Alternative Alt 94.9 is currently simulcasting on 101.9 FM, formerly Trax 101.9. Word is that Cumulus may launch a classic hip-hop format on 94.9 FM.
