The LDS Church wants your feedback about temple garments
SALT LAKE CITY – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wants to hear what you think about temple garments, and has posted a survey online for members to take.
Specifically, the survey includes questions about the fit, style and fabric of the garments currently worn by active and faithful members.
“Sometimes I get asked about ‘Mormon underwear'”, wrote Jana Riess on her blog Flunking Sainthood. “People are naturally curious. It’s unusual for a religion to require some of its members to wear a holy undergarment that no one else can see.”
Riess went on to say she likes the idea behind the garments, but not necessarily the way garments are made.
“The fabrics used are economical but synthetic. They don’t typically breathe well,” she wrote.
The LDS Church posted an explanation of the garments on MormonNewsroom.org, and likened them to other religious icons like the Muslim skullcap, the priest’s cassock and the Buddhist Monk’s robe among others.
