“Coming home to Utah and ABC 4 is the most exciting thing to happen since the first time I started working at KTVX,” Dan Pope said in a statement. Pope originally worked at ABC 4 as Chief Meteorologist from 1992 to 2007.
“Dan has a special connection with viewers,” said news director George Severson. “They trust Dan, and viewers know his forecasts are accurate, easy to understand and enjoyable.”
Pope joins meteorologists Glen Willey and Curtis Ray, and forecasters Adam Carroll and Kylie Bearse June 12.
Announcement: I will be returning for a 2nd time as Chief Meteorologist at KTVX in Salt Lake City on June 9th. I’m thrilled and excited!

Pope’s return to the station could also mean a return of the “Weather Porch”, which was a staple of the broadcasts through the ’90s. “It is a thrill to bring back ‘Pope on the Porch’, and actually have to be in the same weather he forecasts for everyone else. If a bug infestation hits, Dan deals with it,” says Pope’s bio page on the station’s website.
UPDATE: ABC 4 Utah posted a video to their Facebook page, with the message “Coming soon… Good4Utah is taking the weather back where it belongs.”
