3-year-old girl in Amber Alert found safe and sound outside cupcake shop

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah – 3-year-old Bella Martinez is safe today, after being the center of an Amber Alert Wednesday afternoon.

Police say Rosalee Marie Key stole a black Hyundai Santa Fe from a 7-11 parking lot at 287 West 3300 South, and Martinez was sitting in the back seat after her father went inside the store.

Martinez was later found near a cupcake shop in Salt Lake City, according to ABC 4 Utah.

A wireless Amber Alert was sent out to cellphones in the area.

Wireless Amber Alerts can be geotargeted to certain areas, and that’s exactly what happened Wednesday evening. Utah Division of Emergency Management spokesman Joe Dougherty tells KSL even he received an alert as he was riding FrontRunner.

“I noticed as people’s heads started popping up around the FrontRunner train that they were also very surprised to be getting that alert.”

Police say this is a reminder to not leave children in the car unattended.
